Acid Wash & Glue:

This method uses acid to clean and etch the substrate. A special glue designed for this use is added to the plaster mix.

Acid Wash & Picking/Chipping Surface:

This method uses acid to clean and etch the substrate. Then the surface is picked or chipped.

Re-Guniting:

A pneumatically applied cement/sand mixture is used to return the surface to standard.

Sandblasting or Hydro Blasting & Brown Coat:

This method removes dirt, minerals and loose plaster. The substrate is chemically etched, if necessary, and cleaned prior to applying brown coat which is designed to enhance bonding capability.

This method removes dirt, minerals and loose plaster. The substrate is always pneumatically etched and chemically etched, if necessary, and cleaned prior to pre-coat application which is designed to enhance bonding capability.

This method materially removes the old plaster down to the gunite.

NOTE: Any time acid is used, it must be thoroughly neutralized and disposed of according to EPA standards and all local ordinances.

In most cases *this is the method which we use on all jobs other than those which require a full strip of the existing plaster. These jobs obviously require stripping.
